My App Can Save the World

If I told you this app could:

Improve your health

Improve your sleep

Improve your pet's health

Improve your sex life

Improve your mood

Save you $200+ per year on electricity

Pay for itself in days

Globally (at scale):

Avoid ~50 TWh of electricity every year

Keep 20+ million tonnes of CO₂ out of the air — more annual emissions than some entire countries and roughly half of Tesla’s total reported customer impact last year (that makes me half an Elon)

Offsetting a meaningful slice of new data center demand (the AI boom is hungry)

Help keep Russia out of the Ukraine (energy independence matters)

You wouldn’t believe me. Hence this article to provide the receipts.

You can get it here: iPhone App Store Play Store (Android)

It’s science™, not magic. You’d probably pay way more than $4.99 for all that. So really, this app is a bargain. And I'm going to tell you how to do it for free. You can already do everything this app does yourself. I did it manually for years.

But I kept forgetting. Checking temperatures, rain, real-feel, and AQI every day gets tedious. So I automated it with all the edge cases.

Here’s how it works:

Every day the sun rises in the east and sets in the west.

In summer, open when it’s cooler outside than inside. Close when the advantage disappears.

In winter, open when it’s warmer outside than inside. Close in the evening.

Basic thermodynamics: Temperature is just atoms vibrating. Warm atoms vibrate more, cold atoms vibrate less. Heat flows because as the atoms bounce around like pool balls in the world, if a vibrating atom bumps into a slower atom, they both come away vibrating about the same.

Or, if it’s colder outside and your house is warmer, opening the windows cools the house for free. Vice versa for gentle heating.

Free energy, unlike your HVAC system that costs money to run and service every year.

Fresh air when conditions are right feels great and is healthier. You sleep better in a properly cooled or warmed house. The number one fix for low T is sleep. No sleep, and Mr. Happy becomes Mr. Sad.

My Dogs used to bug me to go out, but as I've figured out in the last week of having this app, sometimes they just wanted fresh air. So I sleep better, and they sleep better, so everyone is healthier.

This app handles the timing, notifications, rain checks, real-feel, and AQI so you don’t have to. Widgets for Lock Screen and Home Screen. Watch app too.

Why pay $4.99 when you could yell at Alexa or Siri? Because this app actually factors rain, real-feel, and air quality. Alexa and Siri won’t stop you from letting in bad air or rain. Checking forecasts, temperatures, and timing manually is exactly the chore I got tired of.

Let the phone do the work. Save money. Sleep better. Help the planet.

$4.99 one-time. No subscriptions. Worldwide. Localizations coming.

The Receipts

Per-household savings & health

Night/free cooling and smart natural ventilation routinely deliver 15–55% cooling energy reduction in suitable climates; 20–40% is realistic for good compliance (multiple building science studies). Typical AC-using household saves $70–$200+ depending on local rates and climate.

Example study on automatic windows / natural ventilation: ScienceDirect - Natural ventilation for thermal comfort (13% total energy reduction while matching comfort)

Medium real-world example (~55% cooling reduction, ~$200/home): Want to Cool Off & Save The Environment for Free? Just Open a Window

Better temperature control + timed fresh air improves sleep, mood, and respiratory health. Poor IAQ and overheating are linked to sleep disruption; proper ventilation reduces indoor pollutants (CO₂, VOCs, allergens) and is associated with fewer asthma symptoms and better cognitive function. Pets benefit from lower indoor pollutants too.

Ventilation & IAQ health/productivity: Royal Academy of Engineering on ventilation benefits (productivity gains 1–4%, disease transmission reduction)

General IAQ & health: EPA Indoor Air Quality Guide and WHO on household air pollution

Global scale

At 100 million following households: ~50 TWh electricity avoided and ~20+ Mt CO₂ (based on ~400–600 kWh average savings per AC home and ~430 gCO₂/kWh global electricity intensity). This is meaningful against total residential cooling demand and growing data center loads.

Residential cooling baseline: IEA and Nature papers (e.g., Nature - Inequalities in global residential cooling energy use)

Tesla customer avoided emissions (vehicles + solar + storage): ~32 Mt in 2024, ~37 Mt in 2025 reports. App at scale is in the same order of magnitude from software alone. Tesla Impact Reports

Energy independence angle

Since Russia’s 2014 invasion of Crimea (and especially after the full-scale 2022 invasion), the EU has sent hundreds of billions of euros to Russia for fossil fuels — over €200 billion since February 2022 alone (CREA data). This happened while countries like Germany aggressively phased out carbon-free nuclear plants, increasing reliance on imported gas. Simple tools that reduce unnecessary HVAC use help on both the bill side and the strategic autonomy side.

All numbers are conservative estimates grounded in public studies and reports (IEA, building science literature, Tesla Impact Reports). Actual results vary by climate, home, compliance, and local energy mix.

Funny Story on the way to the Play Store

So I really wrote this app because my HVAC went out, and I didn't want to die. When the sales guy came out to give me the quote on the new unit (There goes $25K, sigh), I told him about the app, and he wanted it because he always has an argument with his fiancee about opening the window in the evening. So the $4.99 was worth it for the romantic harmony.

Dedication: This app is dedicated to my wife, who grew up poor, and poor people know things.
